wcagcheckr

WCAG 2.1 Level AA · honest audit, court-grade proof

Know your lawsuit exposure. Prove you fixed it.

A demand letter names your website and sets a deadline — and most owners have no way to know if it’s even true. wcagcheckr tells you exactly where you stand in ten minutes, hands you the fix list plaintiff-side scanners hunt for, and — once you’ve fixed it — gives you dated, signed proof that holds up when someone asks. We test your real site. No widget, no “AI accessibility layer.”

Free forever — no account, no card. Unlock the paid features inside the app, when you’re ready.

It usually arrives on a Tuesday. A letter, or an email forwarded by someone in accounting: your website is inaccessible, here is what we want. You don’t know if your site is actually broken. You just know someone with a lawyer says it is — and the clock is already running.

Maybe you even paid for one of those accessibility widgets that promised this would never happen. Here’s the part nobody told you:

3,948
ADA website accessibility lawsuits filed in the US in 2025 (EcomBack).

Almost every one of those comes down to the same thing: WCAG failures a plaintiff’s scanner found and the site never fixed. wcagcheckr finds them, shows you the fixes, and proves you made them. Nearly one in four of those 2025 suits — 983 — hit sites already running an accessibility overlay (424 of them accessiBe’s customers — the vendor the FTC ordered to pay $1 million in 2025 for overstating what its widget could do). The lesson isn’t “get a better widget.” A layer bolted over your site doesn’t protect you. Real fixes and real proof do.

How it works

1

Install free

Add the extension from the store. No account, no card. The core audit runs locally in your browser — private and staging pages stay on your machine. (The opt-in AI features are the exception — they use your own Anthropic key.)

2

Audit your real site

Get your lawsuit-exposure grade and the exact WCAG 2.1 Level AA failures a plaintiff’s scanner would flag — with plain-language fixes for each.

3

Fix it, then prove it

Fix at the source, re-check, and — when you’re ready — generate court-grade, third-party-verifiable evidence that you did. Upgrade for that inside the app.

Five things no competitor does — at any price

We test every state, not just the page sitting still

Most tools — axe-core included — audit your page once, at rest, because they evaluate the DOM as it’s served. We drive every component through 30+ states — hover, focus, active, disabled, dark mode, forced-colors, every breakpoint — and run the audit at each one. It’s where the violations actually hide.

You see only what’s new — never the same debt twice

Audit twice with anyone else and you get the same 400 problems again. We store a baseline for every component and surface only what changed since last time. You fix forward, not in circles.

Proof a third party can verify — at this date, with this result

Every audit can be sealed with an RFC-3161 trusted timestamp and an ed25519 receipt. Anyone can verify it independently. It’s the document your attorney puts in front of the other side — not a promise, a record.

The six criteria no rules engine can check, checked

Focus order, keyboard traps, reading order, focus visible, non-text contrast, label-in-name — no automated engine can assess these. Our AI walks them the way a human auditor would, and shows its work.

Your PDFs are exposure too — so we audit them

Brochures, menus, statements. We check them against PDF/UA-1 across 11 rules, structure to visual. No other Chrome extension does PDF accessibility at all.

How we stack up against what’s already in the store

The accessibility extensions you’d actually find and install — plus the overlay you shouldn’t. Every box here is one we can defend, including the one where we lose.

Questions people ask before installing

Is wcagcheckr an overlay or widget?

No. We don’t add anything to your site. We audit your real pages against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, show you the failures, and give you the fix for each — the opposite of a widget that sits on top and patches nothing.

Which WCAG standard do you check against?

WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the standard that matters for ADA litigation in the US and under the EU’s European Accessibility Act. That’s the bar that removes the grounds a legitimate demand letter would stand on, so it’s the one we focus on.

Do I really have to install before I can buy?

Yes, and on purpose. It’s a browser extension — you can’t use it without installing it — and we’d rather you try the free features on your own site first. When you’re ready, you upgrade inside the app. No checkout here, no pressure.

Is the free version actually useful, or just a teaser?

Genuinely useful, forever. Free includes 26 of 53 features — your lawsuit-exposure grade, a 35-page site crawl, scheduled audits, and plain-language fix recipes. It finds your issues and shows the fixes. Paid adds AI, PDF/UA, and the court-grade legal evidence.

The AI features need my own API key?

Yes — paid AI features use your own Anthropic API key, so you pay only for the calls you actually make. No metered markup from us.

Will it work on my private or staging site?

Yes. The core audit runs locally in your browser, so password-protected, internal, and pre-launch pages are tested without leaving your machine. The one exception is the optional AI features: they’re off by default and use your own Anthropic key, and when enabled they send page content (text, DOM, screenshots) to Anthropic to analyze — so if you turn AI on for a private page, that content goes to Anthropic, a third party, under your key. With AI off, nothing leaves your browser.

Reviews are easy to fake. Proof isn’t.

The accessibility industry has a testimonials problem. accessiBe — one of the biggest names in the business — was ordered by the FTC to pay $1 million in 2025, in part for deceptively formatting third-party articles and reviews to look independent, hiding its connection to the people doing the praising.

So when you read glowing “independent” praise for an accessibility tool — ours included — it’s fair to ask who wrote it. That’s why we don’t ask you to trust testimonials, ours or anyone else’s. We’d rather hand you proof you can check yourself: install the free tier and run it on your own site, verify a forensic receipt at our public verifier, read our methodology. Proof you can verify beats stars you take on faith — and that holds whether we have five reviews or five thousand.

No checkout here. On purpose.

Sales pages are built to rush you — countdown timers, fake scarcity, a “Buy” button before you’ve seen a thing. We’d rather earn it. Install the extension, run real audits on your real site with the free features, and poke around as long as you like. When you’re ready to unlock the AI, the forensic evidence, and the legal exports, you’ll do it from inside the app — where you can already see exactly what you’re getting. No surprises, because there’s nothing left to surprise you with.

Find out where you stand. It’s free, and it takes ten minutes.

No card. No widget on your site. Just an honest answer about your real pages — and, when you’re ready, the proof to back it up.
